TIME OUT @ HOLY CROSS CCA

​Holy Cross CCA's Children's "I MARCH TEAM"  - is one of the special events we host for community fun for our kids.  They march during the Autumn Fest in Woonsocket and receive "Christmas in October" gifts for participating.  Children who sign up for the faith-base after school programs in Woonsocket are welcome to join the parade. ​ Holy Cross CCA have volunteer workers with great big hearts, working towards providing a place where our community children and adults can meet and find positive educational faith-based programs while having fun!  Our plan is to cover people with love and care, supporting their needs through life skills teachings; with inclusion programs that aim to ensure everyone feels welcomed, valued, respected, and have equal opportunities in education or community settings.  We promote diversity and creating inclusive environments.  Here's a breakdown of community service programs we offer:  

​Time Management, Communication, Self Esteem, Cyber Addiction, Violence in School, Bullying, Drinking and Drugs, Stress, and Obesity.

Time Management - The pressure to succeed is in great demand.  With bible activities we teach youths how to manage their time and prioritize various tasks and commitment's.

Communication - Youths often do not like to communicate.  The more we speak to them, the more it becomes easier for them to open-up and communicate back.  We ask them about their opinions and listen to them.  The lines of communication remains open, especially when kids feel a positive adult is really listening to them and, acknowledging what they are saying.  

Self Esteem - By building our youths confidence and helping them to feel secure within themselves, they get in less trouble and work to do more positive things verses negative.  We incorporate bible scriptures to  help strengthen their daily routine.

Cyber Addiction - Children today have a need to spend a great deal of time on electrical devises, which can affect their relationships in school, as well a their health.  It's an addiction they need to be faced with the help of adults shutting of push notifications, setting up Tech-Free Zones, and shutting off the cell phones and replacing it with live praiseworthy activities.  

Violence in School - Violence is on the rise.  Children are being murdered due to school violence.  We plan to create a healthy environment by creating space to discuss their feelings and concerns verses stuffing them and having an ugly outburst.  We replace violence with Christian studies and peaceful examples of expressing ones self. 

Bullying -  Adolescents are anxious and they look for some type of control.  Putting other peers down gives them a sense of power.  They are not yet familiar with how ones life can be effected when bullied. They neither recognize or understand the damage they are causing to a person when treating them badly. We offer positive life skills activities through play skits for a more positive reaction.

Stress - Young people in middle school have stress when having to change schools due to family situations. They may think negative about themselves or feel negative while navigating through life due to living in a environment stemming from divorced parents or separation.  Some simply live in unsafe environments.  They may also have issues with their peers which is stressful.  Many youths are living in families with financial or medical issues, while living in poverty.  In a Christian setting, we create a safe and supportive environment, establish routines, teach coping skills, encourage physical activity. 

Obesity - Many middle school children between the ages of 11 and 14 experience obesity.  They need help to learn about exercising and eating the proper foods.  To prevent obesity, we to teach the youths about regular physical activity, and a decrease in sugar, saturated fats, and an increase in vegetables and fruit consumption.

PLEASE HELP US IN SUPPORT OF OUR COMMUNITY TO BRING ABOUT POSITIVE CHANGE.   THE RESTORORATION AND UTILIZATION OF THE HISTORIC VICTORIAN OFFICE BUILDING SPACE  AT 148 HAMLET AVE, WOONSOCKET, RI, WILL ASSIST IN MAKING THIS POSSIBLE.
